Mutual guarantee is the only guarantee for our survival
An article in The Jerusalem Post:
My comment:
While it is important we defend ourselves against external enemies, as the article points out, what we truly need to focus on is internal disunity and Jews going hard against their own brethren just to be “good and righteous ones” in the eyes of the world.
When we look at Israeli society and American Jews especially, these “Hellenistic Jews” are causing extreme damage to Israel and Diaspora Jews who support Israel.
It is this inner split, the infighting and “unfounded hatred” between Jews, which has caused all of our tragedies, contributing even to the surprise and efficiency of the Hamas attack in October.
Even in the Purim story, Haman gains confidence through the disunity of the “scattered Jews” who lost their connection to their God due to their disunity.
The more certain Jews want to resemble other nations and their methods, the more they side with those who go against Israel’s interest, and the weaker we all become.
This is what the original “mutual guarantee” means: we are all absolutely responsible for one another.
It does not matter how diverse we are and how different our opinions are; we must never undermine each other, and we always have to keep the well-being and optimal state of the whole Nation in focus; our personal opinion and personal benefit should never jeopardize the wellbeing and survival of the whole.
This is totally opposite to the “Western values and lifestyle” that worships the individual and gives the individual the right to endanger the whole.
