Moses’s leadership and method of unity

An article in The Jerusalem Post:

My comment:

We have been dancing around the notion of unity for weeks now.

In the meantime, although the war is still ongoing, the original unity brought on Israel by the events of the 7th of October is already breaking apart.

Original ideologies and instinctive urges are already causing rifts in the extraordinary social cohesion we experienced as a result of collective grief, suffering, and the need to fight together for our survival.

The problem is that we do not know what is rejecting us from each other; thus, we can’t find a solution either.

The article describes Moses as the ideal leader.

But Moses did not just lead by example; he also gave the people a unique method that forged them into a true Nation.

The Nation of Israel was born through unique unity and mutual guarantee above and against the inherently self-serving, self-justifying, exploitative, and hateful human nature that incites people against each other.

This is the symbolism of pledging to become “as one man with one heart” while camping around the Mount of Hate — despite the burning “unfounded hatred” between Jews.

This “supernatural” unity also requires an “extra element” — a unique “natural or divine force” — that can give us the ability to love and connect above and despite hate.

Moses’s practical, empirical method — not religion — is still the only way of building and keeping unity above and against our egoistic and hateful instinctive nature that drives all of us regardless of ideologies, social status or nationality.
