Modern-day gladiators

Question from the Internet:

“Why do you think we (as in humanity) care about sport and specifically about elite athletes to the extent that we do? And given your answer, should we care?”

Sport today provides the same entertainment as gladiators did in Rome.

It is all part of the all-encompassing and brainwashing “circus and bread” entertainment machinery keeping us doped, preventing us from thinking, or realizing who we are, where we are. And if “circus and bread” are not enough we have actual drugs, alcohol to finish the job.

We are the most brainwashed, mindless, blind generation in human history, that — even realistically facing an unprecedented global meltdown, potential self-destruction — keeps chasing the smallest drop of pleasure day to day, stubbornly refusing to look at reality as then we would look into a brutally honest mirror that would force us to change ourselves. And this is the last thing we would want or do.

Fortunately for us, events like the pandemic, the growing socio-economic crisis “glitches the Matrix” and we will have no other choice but to face our grim reality. And after we already tried to change, correct, cancel others, after we have gone through a few other wars causing intolerable suffering, we will have no other options but to start changing ourselves, learning how to rise above our self-destructive, cancer-like egos that drive all of us.

Of course, if we are wise we start to do this before the intolerable suffering forces us…
