Living in unity — above and against our egos — is not a utopia!

An article in The Jerusalem Post:

My comment:

I fully agree with the author. A national unity that is achieved above and against vast divisions and differences of opinions — without oppressing or erasing any opinions — is not a utopia.

This is our “Jewish method.”

This is the method that is described — in a symbolic language — of the Torah, and this is the method that is the sole guarantee of our continuing survival against all odds.

Even Israel’s technological and military advantage is wasted if we allow the instinctive urges of separation and infighting to triumph.

These self-serving and self-justifying urges, when we try to prove our own right above others and try succeeding at the expense of others, is what we call “unfounded hatred,” which is driven by the 100% egocentric, selfish, and hateful ego that drives each and every human being.

What differentiates our forefathers from others and should also differentiate us from others is the unique method that makes it possible to “cover all transgressions (the ego) with brotherly love.”

This is not something natural; it is against our inherent nature. Thus, this is something we have to learn and practice and keep alive above and against our instinctive urges.

Only with such unique, conscious, and willing education and implementation of our method can we unify the diversity and differences of opinions and harness them towards our collective goal and purpose: to become “light unto others,” showing everyone how human beings can collectively survive against their own egos.
