Living in a global village
Question from the Internet:
“Are we living in a global village, and why? What are the disadvantages of living in the global village?”
We are living in a global village, in other words we have evolved into a globally integrated, fully interdependent world.
This is not something man-made, so it is not something we did, we can undo, or choose to ignore.
Humanity is born from Nature, still exists in Nature and we evolve according Nature’s evolutionary direction. And that direction is moving towards an every increasing integration of its ever more complex natural system.
As a result humanity also has to “comply", adapt since we are integral parts of the system — although from our inherently egocentric, subjective viewpoint we are outside, above nature — we can’t continue building human civilizations that ignore Nature’s laws that sustain the balance and homeostasis life depends on.
Thus the very obvious “disadvantage" of living in a global village is learning what it means to change our artificial, overconsuming, ruthlessly competitive, “cancer-like” human system to a consciously, methodically, mutually integrated, global human society.
The advantage of this is becoming fully compatible with Nature, thus gaining an unprecedented problem-solving ability and that we can safeguard our collective human survival.
There are much greater, even more important advantages as well, but they will become more clear, obvious when first we secured our natural compatibility and survival…
