Is true, lasting peace possible at all?

Question from the Internet:

“Will humanity ever find true, lasting peace? And if not, is complete self-annihilation the inevitable conclusion?”

You are right, these are our 2 options: either true, lasting peace or total and inevitable annihilation.

If we continue to blindly follow our inherently selfish, egocentric, subjective and exploitative nature, if we continue to thrive for ruthless, exclusive competition and to succeed and survive at each other’s expense, we will self-destruct either in this or in the next generation.

On the other hand, we have the ability to learn how to establish and keep “true peace”. But this peace has to become completely different from our past and present “peace treaties” and “ceasefires” that were simply temporary pauses between continuing wars and conflicts.

True, lasting peace is possible only, if we, first of all, recognize that the problem preventing us from peace and driving us towards war is within all of us. Then we can finally learn how to build positive, sustainable, mutually responsible and mutually complementing interconnections and cooperation above and against our inherent nature.

Only when we learn how to defeat, overcome, harness our inherently “warmongering”, destructive, egocentric and exploitative nature can we accept and connect to others. True peace comes from defeating ourselves while accepting and mutually complementing others.

That is true peace, “wholeness”, a unique, mutual complementation between vastly diverse, seemingly incompatible parts, elements, people.
