Is the world truly dark and unfair?

Question from the Internet:

“I keep expecting the world to be fair, and I keep getting disappointed. Does anybody feel the same way?”

I feel the same. I see a destructive, dark, and unfair world around me. The question is, what are we going to do with this feeling?

Is our expectation of seeing a “fair world” realistic? Are we passive participants in this “unfair world”? Can we change something, or do we simply need to wait until the world becomes “fair”?

When we examine inherent human nature, and we humbly accept what we find, we see that we are all instinctively self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric, and individualistic. We all see the world subjectively, according to our introverted viewpoint.

Thus such notions as “good” and “fair” apply only according to this 100% egocentric and subjective viewpoint, similar to the notions of “morality,” “truth ‘ or “justice.”

We can’t truly judge something as “unfair” until we manage to achieve a truly selfless and objective outlook on life and other people.

Thus when we reach a feeling and even a need to correct or change the world around us, first of all, we would need to make attempts to correct our own inherently egocentric and subjective viewpoint. Only when we acquire the ability to see the world ‘as it is” can we start suggesting or even exerting truly positive and constructive changes that are “fair” from everybody’s point of view.

On the other hand, when we have reached a truly selfless and objective viewpoint, we might see a very different world, which was already fair to start with, just we were previously unable to see and feel that…
