Is the world changing, or are we changing?
Question from the Internet:
“Why is everything in this world just changing suddenly?”
The world does not change.
Our awareness and sensitivity change. As a result, we are now recognizing and experiencing things we did not notice or experience before.
Our inherent nature — that is behind everything we have ever done — has not changed since the dawn of humankind. We have always been inherently self-centered, subjective, individualistic, and exploitative. Human beings have always wanted to explore and exploit everything and everybody for their own sake. We have always wanted to prove that we are independent, standalone individuals that need nothing but can survive and manipulate the world on our own, the way we want it.
All of our civilizations — that we have been building and destroying through helplessly recurring and vicious historical cycles — are based on this proud, stubborn and foolish, selfish individualism. Human history is the chronicle of the ever-growing and ever-intensifying human ego.
What is happening today is that as a result of historical and contemporary experiences and as a result of the growing, desperate helplessness in the face of mounting problems that threaten our existence, we have become a little bit more sensitive to recognize that the root problem for all the wars, crisis situations, and suffering is within us.
It is, of course, a very unpleasant recognition, and we still do everything we can to try to ignore it or to justify ourselves at any cost. But since our self-destructive potential has reached its maximum, and the sharp sword of self-destruction is now visibly hanging over our head, touching our scalp, there is a growing number of people who have become sensitive and willing enough to recognize the root cause of the world’s problems inside of them and even became willing to start a special and purposeful self-correction, self-development process.
Either as a result of growing and finally intolerable suffering or as a result of that critical minority showing a positive example, humanity will awaken and turn a corner. We will achieve our unique, evolutionary Human goal and purpose in nature’s system with or without our consent.
The only question is, how much suffering do we need, and how successful that small, critical minority is going to be in showing a positive example and pulling the rest of humanity out of the sinking wreck of the Titanic of our human system?
