Is the end of the world nigh?

As the pandemic is raging on and many fear a second wave, as the subsequent socio-economic crisis that is unprecedented in modern times starts to bite, many starts to wonder if this is the end of the world we are observing?!

Fortunately, the end of the world is not nigh. But the way we lived so far is.

Even before the pandemic our present way of life — the excessive, overproduction, overconsumption economy, the ruthless, exclusive competition, success at each other’s expense — was already collapsing, since our inherently egoistic, self-serving, self-justifying Human paradigm is incompatible with the Natural system we exist in.

Nature is based on “iron laws” that govern, sustain the fragile and crucial balance and homeostasis life and positive development is based upon. As we have grown in numbers, as our activity increased, we have become such a foreign body in nature that our harmful activity cannot be balanced, neutralized any longer.

This is why our system started self-destructing. Many describe as “Nature punishing us”, but Nature is simply a system based on laws. We are punishing ourselves by breaking those laws, thus committing self-harm.

Nature can repair itself almost immediately as we could see from many examples during the lockdown. As soon as Humanity reduced its destructive activities balance was almost immediately restored all over the globe.

Thus Nature does not have to do anything else but wait for us to finish ourselves off, understand that we need to change either as a result of intolerable suffering or by proactive, conscious education, self-change.

The ball is on our court, it is our choice if we continue playing “Russian roulette” with our artificial, self-destructive way of life, or we choose to learn how to find adaptation, mutual integration with Nature’s system — through integrating with each other by building mutually responsible, mutually complementing interconnections, cooperation.

The world will not end, we will survive and find our proper path of Human development at the end — hopefully without unnecessary suffering.
