Is the collapse of the West inevitable?

Question from the Internet:

“I am worried and/or even paranoid about the possibility of the decline of the Western world and its culture. What do I do?”

I sympathize with you, after all, we all believed that the “West” is the pinnacle of human development, that it offers everything we could ever want.

I left Hungary in 1995 to find my dreams in the West, most developing countries — regardless of their culture, the way they develop — tries to emulate the successes of the West.

But is the West truly the best we can aim for? Is the collapse of the West truly inevitable? And if the West collapses what is next?

It is true that the Western style of lifestyle fits our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and individualistic nature, where we define our purpose in life to immediately and maximally fulfil our insatiable, ever-growing, inherently selfish desires.

This is how our narcissistic hedonistic, consumerist societies were formed, with the overall slogan that “the individual is unique and can dream and do whatever one wants and only the sky is the limit for our pursuit of personal happiness and profit. And if we can achieve all of this at the expense of others, manipulating exploiting everybody we can, it is even better”.

But this actually does not agree with our true inner program, it does not agree with the goal our DNA drives us towards. We can now see that the more we have, the more we hoarded for ourselves, the emptier, more depressed and dissatisfied we feel.

The wealthier, the more powerful we become the more conflicts, wars, crisis situation we generate as we try to succeed, survive at each others’ and Nature’s expense.

We keep forgetting that humanity does not exist in a vacuum where we can establish our own laws, systems contrary, against Nature’s fully, mutually integrated, finely balanced system. We are not standalone, independent beings, but individual cells, cogwheels in a single, living system.

Our true inner program is governed by Nature’s evolution, driving us towards a Nature-like mutual integration, interdependence we can already observe in our physical life, while our superficial ego keeps resisting it, trying to exploit even these inevitable global interconnections.

The West is collapsing “as we speak” and this is inevitable since we cannot sustain a human system against Nature’s laws. It does not matter what ideology, what system we think is good, even it seems to agree with the general laws of Nature, our inherent ego will sooner or later distort, corrupt it. We have just corrupted, destroyed the system we thought was the best we can ever invent, the so-called “liberal parliamentary democracy with free-market capitalism.

The only system that is sustainable, that has the right to survive is a human society that is built on Nature’s mutually integrated template — above and against our inherent nature.

And it is specifically this conscious, willing adaptation to Nature above and against our “unnatural” egoistic instincts that will make us “truly Human”.
