Is human society collapsing?
Question from the Inyternet:
“M.I.T predicted that society would collapse around 2040. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it is likely?”
It is similar to how people keep talking about climate change as if it was something in the future when we are already living with all kinds of consequences of climate change which we still can’t understand let alone do something to save ourselves.
It is the same with society. We are already in the process of collapse, our societies — especially the Western version — is completely aimless, clueless, sustained only by empty consumerism, and a cheap “circus and bread” brainwashing entertainment, but even these “pillars” of society are now collapsing.
We are very close to a complete breakdown which can come at any moment as the economy is faltering and inequality is growing while people lose all hope. And then the “astute leaders” will bring out the “only solution” they know from history — war.
Leaders, experts simply go through the motions, nobody is actually promising anything positive anymore, nobody is looking forward to the future, e are simply watching celebrities, billionaire entrepreneurs burning their money on stupidity or building their bunkers they hope to survive the approaching apocalypse in.
Our present civilizational collapse is similar to the collapse of the Roman Empire’s, a self-serving, narcissistic civilization becoming completely exhausted, destroying itself.
The solution is very similar to what Isaac Asimov suggested in his Foundation books, building initially smaller, uniquely organized, and educated environments, “foundations” that operate according to very different, Natural values and principles, creating human interconnections, life-systems based on Nature’s integral template.
Because the necessary selfless, altruistic, mutually complementing, and mutually responsible cooperation we need to survive is against our inherently selfish, egotistic, individualistic, and exploitative nature, we need a unique environment and special purposeful, practical, scientific method that can help us change ourselves, adapt ourselves to Nature’s integrated, interdependent system.
