In a globally integrated and interdependent world power comes from unity and cooperation

Question from the Internet:

“What is the role and source of power in organizations?”

I would like to turn the question around a bit.

More and more people started to see that we have evolved into a mutually integrated and interdependent world. In this integral and interdependent world, we have all become like individual cells or cogwheels.

This means that we cannot really act independently, especially not in the usual way of ruthless competition when my success and progress happen at the expense of others. In that case, we act as cancer and even if we enjoy temporary success, in the end, we destroy the environment, and organization we exist in or work for and by that, we damage ourselves as well.

In this “new” integrated and interdependent arrangement continuing with our usual self-serving, self-justifying, subjective and individualistic viewpoint we cannot succeed or reach any kind of success. Very soon even the celebrated American (and other) billionaires will find that they cannot go against the laws of integral Nature by pursuing individual success according to their egocentric and subjective goals and calculations.

Thus in our integrated and interdependent age power in organizations and in any human environment comes from teamwork, from mutually responsible and mutually complementing cooperation as only in that way do we reach equivalence of form with Nature’s laws and its seamlessly and mutually integrated system.
