If we don’t like the “Matrix” we live in, we need to unplug from it!
Question from the Internet:
“Why are we in a society of “buy it, use it, and throw it away”?”
Because we exist in a “consumerist Matrix” which brainwashes us to consume excessively and to keep replacing everything we consume excessively, to live in debt and pay with increasing debt for debt…
This Matrix makes all of us slaves to “aggregate demand” to keep the illusiory “incessant growth”, and a strong stock exchange, where the privileged minority can play casino with the money of others.
Why do we agree to be plugged into this Matrix?!
Because overall consumerism and the “circus and bread” entertainment, celebrity culture fits our inherently self-serving, ruthlessly competitive nature.
And the opposite alternative - building a society that’s based on living within the optimal parameters of natural necessities, available resources, while mutually contributing for the well-being of the whole - seems revolting, unacceptable for us.
Even those who call for socialism, Communism, equality and fairness do it for their own selfish reasons, and wouldn’t be able to live in a truly socialistic, Communistic, fair society where each makes calculations for the sake of others, for the sake of the whole collective.
They would start distorting, corrupting such a society for their own selfish sake as those did who previously built socialist, Communist systems.
The societies, governing and economic systems we live in are reflections of our inherently egocentric, subjective and exploitative Human nature and how we relate to each other as a result.
Thus if we are unhappy with the Matrix we live in we wouldn’t be able to change it through political, economic or social “solutions”, changes. Only by changing ourselves and how we relate to each other - through a unique, purposeful and practical educational method - can we truly change anything.
But of course for that we truly need to desire, yearn for such changes, we really need to sense an urgent, irrepressible need for change. Otherwise we can’t start something that goes against our instinctive reactions, inclinations.
