Humanity’s unique development
Question from the Internet:
“Is there a word that describes the fact that unlike animal species, humans do not adapt to the environment but actively change the environment to suit their needs?”
If you really want a single word, that word is “Ego".
It is only the Human Ego that differentiate Humans from other animals. Without the Ego there world be absolutely no difference between the chimpanzees, orangutans we originate together from the same root.
While animals also do everything they can for their own survival, and adapt to the environment and adapt the environment to their needs, their needs never go beyond natural necessities. They never leave their natural habitat unless they are forced to, and whenever, for any reasons they start to threaten the fragile balance in the ecosystem, Nature makes sure — through different factors — that the balance is restored sooner or later.
This “staying within Nature’s balance", playing their predetermined role in Nature’s “circle of life" is instinctively programmed in animals.
Humanity adapts to Nature and adapts Nature to itself in a completely unnatural, artificial way, according to desires, “needs" that are easy beyond natural necessities. We don’t even know what our true necessities are as we don’t know what available resources are — not that we would care.
This is not our fault.
Evolution placed is out of touch with its inherent balance, giving us the ability to develop outside of Nature’s boundaries, recklessly, seemingly infinitely progressing in our Human bubble.
We can consider this a unique childhood, adolescent period of Human development. But now — as we are becoming dangerous to ourselves, having a very real prospect of self-destruction — we need to “grow up", and start qualitative development instead of the items quantitative one.
The time has come — and evolution expects us to do so — to take our development consciously into our own hands instead of the previous blind, instinctive progress. This means purposefully learning Nature’s evolutionary plan and our own predetermined role in it.
Then we can protectively, methodically adjust, tune ourselves towards that role, instead of waiting for increasing crisis situations, blows to push, force us from behind.
