Humanity’s unique characteristics

Question from the Internet:

“What characteristics do humans have that allow us to adapt and survive and now dominate the world?”

It is the insatiable, irrepressible Human ego — always wanting more - that drove us through our historic achievements, unparalleled development - especially compared to other developed primates we separated from a few million years ago.

But now the same ego is threatening our existence as in the globally integrated, interdependent world we have evolved into - as a result of Nature’s evolution progressing towards a final, most optimal integration - the Human ego, our present excessively consuming, all-conquering behavior has become self-destructive.

Thus now we would need to activate and use an even higher Human ability, our special Human mind that is capable of critical self-assessment, initiating self-change, self-upgrade when necessary.

So far we haven’t used this special Human trait, as we have been blindly serving our instinctive, egotistic, self-serving program.

Now survival in Nature’s fully integrated, interdependent system dictates that we recognize the self-destructive characteristic of the ego and learn how to act above, against our instincts. We can learn how to harness, channel our all-powerful egotistic engine towards positive, constructive, collective goals, purposes.

We can acquire a very unique, dual perception of reality between the original egocentric subjective, and a methodically acquired selfless, objective viewpoint, obtaining a full, truthful picture of reality within the contrast.

By that we won’t “dominate” the world as we try to do now - casing endless problems, destruction everywhere, but we will become Nature’s benevolent, conscious partners.
