How to rebuild our collapsing human civilization?
Question from the internet?
“With Covid-19 being around permanently and causing repeated lockdowns and supply disruptions could the virus eventually collapse civilization? Why are we not training people to be more self-reliant in preparation for civilization collapse?”
Our present civilization was already on the way to collapsing before the pandemic started. What the pandemic is doing is pulling the plug from the life-support machine, making our stubborn but futile manipulations, tricks, virtual “packages and solution” even more unsuccessful, removing the fake cover so we could see where we are and who we are.
We are very stubborn, blind-sighted creatures so we still do not want to see that there is “normal” we can return to, but we have to finally face the facts that the lifestyle, the human system we have been building, pursuing is unnatural and as such it has no right to exist in Nature’s fully integrated, interdependent system.
We can’t continue to develop and live like cancer, making calculations only through our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, subjective, and individualistic nature. We can’t continue our ruthless competition, our success, and survival at the expense of others and Nature. Our trade and economy that is based on excessive overconsumption, artificially inflated, maintained “aggregate demand” has already exhausted itself.
Our present society, especially in the West is simply an afterthought, recycling things without actually inventing, promoting, developing anything. The more we seemingly have, the more empty and depressed and angry we become.
Our survival — our collective survival — depends on rebuilding our civilization, but this time not dictated by the selfish, individualistic ego, but dictated, guided by Nature’s integral template and Nature’s laws that sustain the balance and homeostasis life depends on.
And for that, it is not self-reliance we need to learn. Instead, we need to learn how to truly rely on each other, how to build a society based on positive, constructive, selfless, mutually responsible and mutually complementing connections, cooperation. We have to become like a healthy body, a living organism in which we are all but individual cells that can survive only together, supporting each other and the whole collective.
This has nothing to do with any of our misguided, arbitrary ideologies, philosophies, religions. This is according to Nature’s strict, unchanging and unforgiving laws.
