How the selfish can become selfless?!
Question from the Internet:
“What is the most effective way to spread selflessness in society?”
The most effective way to spread true selflessness is through a special, purposeful and practical educational method which uses positive motivation and positive examples to change how we instinctively relate to each other.
By default we can’t act selflessly, as our inherently self-serving, self-justifying and subjective nature can’t make any other calculations, but for it’s own sake.
Even when we seemingly act for others, give to others, serve others, there inevitably has to be some selfish reward, selfish advantage behind the act, as otherwise we wouldn’t be able to move even a finger.
Most people honestly believe that they are selfless and they can act for the sake of others even in our days of chaos, rate, hate and incitement using any excuse.
They are not to blame.
Our true nature reveals itself only in very dire, dramatic, “life or death” circumstances, or if we purposefully, methodically want to know what forces, desires, intentions truly drive us.
Thus it would be useful if at least a certain minority, “critical mass” would recognize - by observing what’s happening in the world, seeing what direction we are progressing to - that in order to solve problems, save ourselves, secure Humanity’s continuing development we need to reveal and “arrest” our inner hate, inability to connect to others selflessly, to see our inability to build the crucially necessary interconnections survival and life depends on.
Then this minority, the unique pioneers through their positive example - while the rest of Humanity continues its “Russian roulette” towards inevitable self-destruction - will be able to pull others behind them towards safety and a better life - which depends on mutual, selfless service of one another above and against the inherent, selfish hate.
