How does greed destroy us?

Question from the Internet:

“How does greed destroy you?”

Greed destroys like cancer. After all, cancer is “greedy” since it wants to consume everything for itself while surviving and growing at the expense of everything around it.

And this is the inherent nature we are also born with. We are all looking at the world from a 100% egocentric and subjective point of view, and we all — knowingly or unknowingly — succeed at the expense of others and Nature while trying to live way beyond our actual necessities.

After all, our “modern” society is based on constant and reckless quantitative growth, on aggregate demand, and we think we achieve happiness by chasing more, bigger, greater, stronger, faster, more twisted, and spicier all the time.

True change will come only when we recognize and humbly accept that the root cause of all the problems is within us — all of us — and that we all need to willingly and consciously change and further develop ourselves in order to adjust our lifestyle within the optimal parameters of natural necessities and available resources, while existing through Nature-like, mutually responsible and mutually complementing cooperation and co-existence.
