How can we handle suffering and negative events in life?
Question from the Internet:
“How can I stay strong and optimistic in a world constantly plagued with all sorts of tragedies and calamities that all sentient beings must confront in their life every day?”
In order to stay strong and optimistic in the face of worsening calamities and tragedies, first of all, we would need to identify the reason and root cause of all such negative events.
It is like with any illness. The moment we get to know the correct diagnosis, as scary as it might be, we already take a step towards healing. Only a disease or problem that is already scrutinized and revealed can be healed and solved.
All of the tragedies and calamities we encounter in life — either personally or all of us collectively — are the result of our inherent incompatibility with the Natural system we are born from and exist in.
This incompatibility is not our fault or sin since we did not create or develop the basic qualities and behavioural patterns we are born with. It is as if Nature “released us into production” in an unfinished state with “beta software”.
Thus in a Natural system that exists and survives based on finely balanced mutual integration, where all elements and parts make their primary calculations for the benefit of the whole system — above and against any self-benefit — the inherently self-serving, self-justifying, subjective and individualistic human beings are “out of sync”.
And being “out of sync” with the rest of Nature, the system our existence depends on is behind everything negative we encountered historically and encounter today.
The moment we understand and accept this, we can already start consciously and purposefully developing and upgrading ourselves until we reach compatibility with Nature.
Now, we could say that according to how we see it, Nature is full of violence; creatures hunt and kill each other. This is true as long as we continue viewing Nature through our egocentric and subjective viewpoint. But in Nature, there is no such disconnected and subjective viewpoint or calculations. Individual plants and animals do not feel themselves like independent, standalone beings that suffer on their own. In Nature, an all-encompassing, positive and collective intelligence exists all beings can access. And through that collective “hive-mind”, they can all sense the general balance and homeostasis (we describe as happiness or bliss) regardless of their individual states.
We have the ability to connect to and access, and enjoy the same collective mind and perfect bliss consciously and proactively, achieving it through our own efforts. This is the reason Nature created us “unfinished”, to give us a free choice and the ability to access Nature’s perfection consciously and independently.
