How can science support a better world for all?
Question from the Internet:
“How did science do more harm than good in our society?”
It is not science that is doing harm. Science and technology are simply tools in the hands of the user.
It is the user and the intentions of the user that define what science and technology are doing. And since we are all born with inherently self-serving, self-justifying and exploitative intentions, whatever we invent, create or use, we do so in order to manipulate, control and exploit others, to succeed at the expense of others and nature.
This is why science and technology is causing mostly harm and gthis is why science is now in fundamental crisis. After all, since we can perceive and examine reality only through very limited, egocentric and subjective viewpoints and calculations, even with our most advanced instruments we reached boundaries we cannot go beyond.
If we want science and technology to not to cause harm and to do good to the world, instead, we have to change the user, we have to change and further develop ourselves. Moreover, we have to develop a completely new, totally selfless and thus objective outlook at reality. Then through this new, selfless and objective outlook and with improved, altruistic and unconditionally serving intentions, we will be able to use everything we have and can develop for creating a real-life “Garden of Eden” on earth, instead of the seemingly inevitable self-destruction we are approaching.
