Hope from the depth of chaos, helplessness

“Has humanity’s (governments, individuals, demographics) behavior during this COVID-19 pandemic in any way affected your opinion as to mankind’s potential for long-term survival on this planet? How would a future, much more deadly pandemic be handled?”

Yes it has affected my opinion.

If we don’t learn how to change our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, individualistic, nationalistic mindset, our tendency to try surviving at each other’s expense, we won’t survive even this pandemic and the subsequent socio-economic crisis.

We will sleepwalk into a 3rd - probably nuclear - world war.

While the pandemic again - more sharply than ever before - showed how much we evolved into a single, global, fully integrated system where we all depend on each other, we didn’t move on from our instinctively selfish, exploitative manner of existence.

We can finally see how much we are incompatible with the Natural, evolutionary conditions we exist in.

On one hand this signals great, imminent dangers for all of us - being locked into the same sinking global boat. And the chaos, desperate helplessness we observe all over the world speaks for itself!

On the other hand the recognition of our incompatibility with our integral conditions, seeing how impotent we are in the face of a growing global crisis that affects everything we do is so strong, that we can’t bury our heads into the sand any longer.

There is a constantly growing number of people who already understand that we need to change and are willing to change the only thing that needs changing: ourselves and how we relate, connect to each other.

Thus in the depth of the chaos, evolving crisis there is hope, a sense of a new birth, the development of a new Human society that will be built on Nature’s blueprint, on mutually responsible, mutually complementing cooperation above and despite all the differences, distrust, animosity - even if they remain.
