Globalization and the West
Question from the Internet:
“How has globalization/globalism been a threat to the West?”
The West symbolizes our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, subjective and individualistic nature, where we ruthlessly compete and succeed at each other and at Nature’s expense.
“Globalization” — existence in a globally integrated and interdependent system that is obligated by Nature’s laws and evolution — is the opposite of this “Western ideal”. In a globally integrated and interdependent world, each individual becomes like a single cell in a living body, with total mutual responsibility for the well-being and optimal development of everybody else and Nature.
And since the West tries to exploit the “global market” and the inevitable mutual interconnections with the usually self-serving, self-justifying and exploitative intentions and calculations, the Western version of “globalization” has become like the snake that consumes itself or cancer that destroys the body.
The unique — life-preserving — task ahead of our generation is to learn how to adapt and integrate our inherently “Western” — selfish, individualistic and exploitative — nature into Nature’s fully integrated and interdependent system without suppressing or erasing anything of our unique abilities and qualities, but finding the right, mutually responsible and mutually completing role and function for everything.
