Faith Above Reason
To perceive reality accurately and understand our place in it, we would need a completely objective and realistic viewpoint, which we lack. Our perception of reality is entirely subjective, egocentric, and self-serving. Everything we experience — seeing, tasting, or touching — is filtered through our subjective, egocentric lenses. We perceive reality based on selfish pleasure-pain calculations.
When interacting with others, our primary motivation is to gain pleasure or avoid pain. Even love serves self-interest by providing a pleasant feeling or an advantage. Human nature, studied by empirical scientists for millennia, thrives on faith due to our lack of an objective perspective. They identify three types of faith: faith within reason, faith below reason, and faith above reason.
Faith within reason is the belief that our subjective perceptions and emotions represent the truth. Our sciences are based on this. We navigate the world accepting as reality what we can safely interact with, despite knowing it’s subjective and self-centered. Though this belief system provided a foundation for human development, it is now crumbling. We are questioning everything and scrambling to establish new principles for life. With our foundations disappearing, our sciences have become less confident in researching reality.
Faith below reason characterizes religious and mystical beliefs, wherein we accept teachings on trust without the ability to verify their truth. Here, faith is a choice, hoping for proof in an afterlife.
Unique scientists propose faith above reason, where we aspire to transcend our current subjective understanding. This involves believing that through a unique method and natural forces, we can reach a verifiable new state, transforming it into our new reality. This transition is from egotism to selflessness, achievable with proper preparation, method, and environment. This shift requires rejecting our egocentric foundations for a new altruistic perspective.
Moving toward this altruistic existence aligns with nature’s principles of mutual cooperation. Nature, including our bodies, operates on selfless and unconditional service, maintaining balance and life. Humanity must consciously embrace these principles to transition from a destructive existence to one that nurtures life, promoting selfless and unconditional love.
