Everything is determined by the intention behind the action

If people are inherently selfish, why do many help so many?

Our main problem is that we keep focusing on the actions. But it is not the actual action that determines the overall quality of what is happening, but the intention behind the action.

Thus an action can be seemingly positive with an underlying negative intention, while action can also be seemingly negative with a positive intention behind it.

The even deeper problem is that we ourselves do not know the intentions behind our actions most of the time, as we almost exclusively act blindly,. automatically with our inbuilt, default intention — for our own sake.

This is neither sinful nor is this evil, we are programmed like this by Nature. Even animals act by default for their own survival, except that for animals there is a higher, overriding intention — for the sake of the wellbeing, balance, optimal development of the whole system. Serving the best interest of the system always overrides the otherwise automatic selfish intention, survival reflex.

This “Natural override” is missing in Human beings — purposefully “uninstalled” by nature’s evolution. This is why Humanity — both individually and collectively — acts against the overall balance and homeostasis of the Natural system, like cancer cells that lost contact with the rest of the body and thus start multiplying, spreading in a haphazard, selfish, all-consuming manner.

Returning to the original question we can see many superficially positive, seemingly selfless, self-sacrificing actions in the world. But if we were able to see the intentions behind those actions, we would always find some kind of — even tiny — self-serving intention. Putting it simply, we are programmed in such a way, that without selfish benefit — knowingly or unknowingly — our ‘self” would not provide fuel for any actions.

To act truly selflessly, truly for the sake of others without any egocentric, subjective bias, benefit, we need to go through a unique preparation, a unique, purposeful, and practical educational method.

Why should we learn such a “supernatural” (above inherent nature) way of behaving, existence?

Because otherwise, we can’t reach compatibility with Nature — with the overall, overriding selfless, altruistic intention in Nature — and without such compatibility, we will not be able to survive but we will self-destruct like cancer. And this conscious, purposeful and methodical change of intention, making ourselves compatible with Nature by our own efforts makes us truly Human above the rest of the system.
