Effective, constructive decision making

Question from the Internet:

“Why are there differences in the understanding of any issues?”

There are differences because we are all born with an inherently egocentric, subjective consciousness, perception of reality. Thus we do not see reality “as it is”, but we see a limited, distorted version of reality that suits our instinctively self-serving, self-justifying “pleasure/pain” calculations.

This is why we honestly believe that our own viewpoint, opinion is right, while everybody else is wrong.

This is now proving to be disastrous in a globally integrated and interdependent world, where our problem-solving ability, our chance of collective Human survival depends on agreeing with each other, on developing mutual, common solutions for the common, global problems.

This is why we urgently need to recognize our inherent limitations and learn how we could debate, discuss problems in an effective, constructive way, so we would be able to build completely new, “composite” opinions, solutions above all our differences in opinions, viewpoints.
