Do I have to be the change I want to see in the world?

Question from the Internet:

“Must you be the change you wish to see in the world?”

Yes, on multiple levels.

First of all, the way I see the world depends solely on my inherently egocentric and subjective worldview.

Basically, I do not see the world as it is, but I see everything filtered and distorted through my own qualities. We can say that I project a personal version of the world in front of me as if playing the protagonist in my own movie.

How the movie unfolds and what role I play in it depends only on me and on the qualities I choose to use towards others and the world.

Moreover, we evolved into a globally integrated and fully interdependent world where we all constantly influence each other. Thus if I show a positive example of how to relate to others, how to conduct my actions and what intentions and goals I cultivate, I can inspire and pull others towards a more positive direction through my existence in this integrated and interdependent world.
