Cultural awareness in Globalization

Why does globalization increase one’s cultural awareness? Does it give more positive effects on culture or the opposite?

I am not sure what cultural awareness means in this context? Cultural awareness of others, or the cultural awareness of one’s nation?

I think in “globalization” — when we start to understand that we are locked into a single, fully integrated, and interdependent world — both happen.

We are constantly influenced by the culture, identity of others since we are interconnected through the media, Internet all the time. At the same time — as if a defensive reaction — a certain “nostalgia” towards our own individual and national identities also awakens.

Unfortunately, this is either suppressed or exploited depending on the intentions of politicians, public opinion influencers.

The mainstream ideology at the moment suggests that in order for a global system to succeed each has to lose their individual and national identities as those stop us connecting. And of course, this then easily used, exploited by those who can gain and sustain power by playing on nationalism.

True, Natural global connections should not mean the loss of one’s individual, national identity. It is the opposite. In Nature — like ion our biological bodies for example — each cell, organs have very unique, specific characters, qualities, abilities. And the mutually responsible, mutually complementing connection, cooperation between the diverse, seemingly incompatible parts brings the body to life.

The same situation needs to unfold in Humanity as globalization progresses — which it has to since it is not a man-made process but a Natural, evolutionary necessity in Nature’s integral system.

So we will need to learn how to build the necessary connections, cooperation all across the globe without suppressing, erasing any special, unique, individual or national characteristics, qualities, as without them Humanity would not be perfect, whole.

The true, Natural connection is built above and despite the differences not in place of them.
