Covid-19: The socio-economic system after the pandemic

It is impossible to predict with certainty what industries, professions, systems will still stand after the lockdown and restrictions end.

But the bottom line is that the virus simply accelerated the inevitable decline, the already ongoing collapse of our old/present Human socio-economic system which was built on excessive, exploitative overproduction, overconsumption, where we — both individually and nationally — tried succeeding, surviving at the expense of everybody else.

This system is simply incompatible with the natural environment we were born from and still exist in, which natural environment is based on the fragile balance, homeostasis of its diverse, seemingly incompatible elements, parts. We can’t change Nature’s iron laws sustaining this balance, we need to adapt to them if we want to survive.

Thus we will be required to rebuild our socio-economic system on Nature’s template which means unprecedented, sustainable, mutually responsible and mutually complementing connections, cooperation between individuals and nations — not according to political ideologies, religious commandments, “Human leadership, coercion”, but according to Nature’s laws.

And we will have to scale down to a modern, healthy, natural necessity and available resources based life.

Since this time it is the virus that forces such changes on us, seemingly without Human intervention we can go along with the changes without resentment, without blaming someone else for them. As a result, as we get used to our new, much healthier, safer, qualitatively higher, calmer life we will very quickly get used to the new circumstances, especially as the usual emptiness, depression, substance abuse, will also decline since in the “lack of any other choice” we will have to turn back towards our families, deeper, truer Human connections which are the only remedy for our true plagues like loneliness, loss of purpose, meaning in life which we will find in each other.

If the lockdown lasts long enough we can honestly ask ourselves at the end, what we are truly missing from the life “before”. And we will see — if we are honest with ourselves and the inevitably restarting, incessant media, marketing and entertainment brainwash has not reached us yet — that we do not miss much. Thus we will get closer to what our true necessities are!

Yes, there will be mass unemployment as for our basic necessities we won’t need the overgrown industries, entertainment service we have today. Some people will be able to adjust and use their skills for securing the basic necessities of others — for example, laid-off airline pilots might find work in delivering necessities to remote places, flying fertilizer airplanes, firefighter planes for large fires, etc. Others will receive different, mutual activities, educational programs that will help us in rebuilding and constantly strengthening our mutual interconnections that will be the basis of the new Human societies.

The transition won’t be easy as we all need a significant upgrade to the inherently selfish, individualistic “program” we are born with brought up, educated for. But the reward is immeasurable. The better we integrate with each other, the closer we get to Nature’s template through our integration and the more natural lifestyle, the more we will feel being benevolent, contributing and thus naturally receiving parts of the system. We will become part of Nature’s “circle of life”, the perfect flow that sustains and develops life.

And contrary to other parts of the system we will have a complete, conscious awareness of the perfection of the system since we achieve the integration, compatibility by our own effort, above and against our inherent nature. This way we become “truly Human”, justifying our Human existence by fulfilling our evolutionary Human role in the system!
