Covid-19: Running back for profit at the expense of Human lives
Many people have grave problems with the general direction coming from politicians and business leaders to restart the economy, trade ASAP, even if it happens at the expense of Human lives due to the further spread of the virus.
I do not want to sound too harsh, but this is how cancer operates.
Now I understand that view that we need to restart the economy as with each day of delay we endanger the lives of people who lose their jobs, won’t get their necessities. It is all true.
The problem is that the socio-economic system we try to run back to ASAP is unsustainable and is not helping people in general.
Our old/previous system is built on excessive overproduction, overconsumption, we have been living way out of our Human and natural resources, we are all sinking into uncontrollable debt and we try paying for those debts with further debt.
With or without the virus unemployment — especially among the youth was increasing — social inequality was threatening to break societies, political extremism has been growing as a result of the increasing frustration.
Thus before we return to reviving our Human system I think we should rethink the foundations, values, goals our socio-economic system is built upon. If we blindly restart where we finished, we will continue our sleepwalk to ever-increasing crisis situations, global calamities either die to Natural causes or due to the self-implosion of our societies, wars.
Thus it is not simply about saving further thousands of people by holding onto the quarantine. It is about saving millions, billions of people by correcting the problems ailing our societies by aligning our socio-economic system and its blueprint with nature’s template.
In Nature life and positive development are based on the harmonious, mutually responsible, and mutually complementing cooperation of all comprising elements (in our case among Humans) and on natural necessities, available resources.
If the return is based on such a Natural template and a unique education explaining to people why and how we can adjust, then we will be able to prevent further loss of life from the pandemic and also the much greater loss of life awaits us around the corner if we blindly, instinctively continue where we were stopped before the lockdowns.
