Covid-19 awakening Humanity together

Besides the virus, with the help of the virus, there is an unprecedented awakening going on in the world right now!

Up to this point, Human history was a breathless, unceasing march forward, blindly, instinctively following our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric, individualistic program, wanting more, better, greater, stronger, juicier, iconic, historic all the time, as soon as we achieved something we already had to move onto the next adventure next conquest, exploration, invention, again and again, building destroying, rebuilding and re-destroying civilizations through recurring vicious cycles…

And now, suddenly everything is frozen!

We can see the multitude of videos showing empty streets, empty bridges, shopping centers, even in India where it was truly unthinkable before, people disappeared from the streets!

What we just started to realize, Nature’s system — in the form of an invisible virus, which is not even as virulent, deadly as previous viruses, pathogens — simply arrested our seemingly unstoppable march — towards seemingly inevitable self-destruction.

What we already forgot, is that our economic, financial, political and social system was in a very serious crisis a few weeks ago. There were many geopolitical conflicts that could have evolved into wars, even going wars. There trade war, oil price war, growing unemployment, climate change burning, sinking, flooding, drying countries. We have been methodically destroying the Natural environment giving us life.

Suddenly we are all together, all having the same non-Human enemy.

As usual, we faced, still have this enemy separately, in an uncoordinated, contradictory, mutually competing, inadequate manner. Still, there has never been a comparable sense in our times when the whole of humanity felt absolutely together, locked into the same, common house!

We are not sitting in our own houses through this lockdown, for the first time in our lives we feel how much we are all sitting on the same — presently sinking — boat! And for the first time in our lives, we started to grasp what absolute, global, mutual responsibility means.

The virus pandemic, the scare will pass in a few months, but our lives will never be the same.

The global boat, still sinking, in an unprecedented crisis at all levels of Human activity, and our absolute mutual responsibility towards one another will not pass. They are part of our evolutionary conditions from now on.

Can we adjust, can we learn together how to live accordingly, how to use this opening the virus provides to elevate our collective existence to a qualitatively much higher safer, sustainable level?!
