Conflict as the basis of life
Question from the Internet:
“How would you justify the statement, “Conflict may also bring transformation and create new things”?”
Without conflicts and arguments, there is no growth or development.
The very basis of life is the constant tension and interaction between opposing forces and qualities in Nature.
Thus conflicts and arguments are not “evil”; they are necessary. The question is, if we can keep the arguments and conflicts constructive, or they become destructive.
So far — since we have been blindly following our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, subjective and egoistic nature — our arguments and conflicts have been destructive. The helplessly recurring vicious cycles of history and our own endless crisis situations, near and actual wars are the proof.
Our whole society is built on ruthless and exclusive competition where we all thrive to survive and succeed at the expense of each other and Nature.
As a result, now we are standing at the threshold of very realistic self-destruction on a global scale. Either we will inevitably kill each other, or our disunity and constant distrust and opposition will prevent us from understanding and solving the mounting global problems that threaten our existence.
Thus we urgently need to learn and implement how to make our arguments and conflicts positive and constructive, using the different viewpoints and our vast diversity and the inevitable tension to fuel a collective human existence that can create and sustain life like Nature.
