Changing through anticipation
Question from the Internet:
“Why is “change” so difficult but “new” exciting?”
Because according to our inherently egocentric, subjective, and self-justifying nature “new” means the world, others changing around us as we would like it, while we remain the same.
“Change” means that we would need to change in order to reach something new, and this is something our selfish ego, that wants to justify itself in any state and condition does not want to do.
We change only when intolerable suffering pushes us — as Humanity has been doing through history so far and how we behave right now in the evolving crisis — or when some greater, higher, anticipated pleasure from the future draws us out of our comfort zone.
Pain, suffering is a much greater motivating force than anticipated pleasures, and unless the pleasures are truly unprecedented that we simply can’t resist we wait for the pain to push us forward.
Thus our task now is to generate such expectations, yearning, lack for a future, more pleasurable state, that it can prevent us waiting for the next intolerable suffering pain, that can come soon from a very great economic, financial recession, depression and even world war that is already around the corner!
Thus we urgently need a unique, purposeful, and highly practical educational method that can paint a much better, qualitatively much higher, safer, peaceful, and sustainable picture of global Human society we can start aspiring and preparing for, and by that pulling ourselves away from the incoming blows.
This is actually very realistic as we have both the necessary method and “fertile conditions” with the unprecedented socio-economic collapse to have both motivations propelling us forward!
