Can we use individualism and patriotism positively in a global world?

Question from the Internet:

In what ways can patriotism be a force for good?

Our inherent individualism, nationalism and patriotism are neither good nor evil. These attributes are simply part of who we are.

As with everything the question is how, for what purposes and goals we use what we are born with.

By default, through our inherently egocentric, subjective and exploitative “operating software” we use all of our attributes and characteristics to overcome, defeat and to destroy others, always succeeding and surviving at their expense.

Thus our individualism and patriotism is also fueling this inherently negative tendency and behaviour.

But if we learned how we can most optimally complement each other and used our unique, irreplaceable qualities for the well-being and most optimal development of the whole humanity and the Natural system, then each and every characteristic, quality and attribute we are born with — even individualism, patriotism, envy and desire for more — turns to good and benevolent.

Everything depends on our goals and intentions, what do we want to achieve and for whose sake?!
