Being rich is not the problem, how we get rich, and what we do with our wealth is the question!
Opinion on the Internet about the hate against rich people, fair distribution, instinctive exploitation of society by those who “made it”, growing inequality:
“I agree with the need to reduce the gap and facilitate fairer access to resources, wealth all around. The only thing I would look deeper into is exploitation. Amazon takes advantage of no one, neither does Walmart. No one knows how the Walmart family lives. Walmart is also the reason poor people get things cheaper than they did before Walmart was born. This benefits the poor, middle class leaving them with more savings which they can buy properties with, buy stocks with.
The stock market is a great and easy way to become a millionaire. When you start working as a student in high school, and you start putting half your paycheck in the stock market consistently, and when you are in college you do the same and when you get out and start working you continue to do that, keep buying stocks, where you get dividends back, the value goes up and you keep taking advantages of dips in the market. People who do that are able to retire before they hit 30th birthday, happens every day. Their net worth goes over a million and they still ride a bicycle to work and grocery or use public transport if they live in a big city.
Becoming successful is very easy, you simply have to want it bad enough and it will find you. You need no brains to invest in giant corporations, they work hard for you and will share profits in dividends or value increase. Rich in my opinion by enlarge do not exploit, there are some bad apples sure but generally, you cannot stay filthy rich if you do not bring value to the market, and the proportion to the value is what you will get back from the market.
If I offer services to people and demand goes up too high, I will be forced to raise the pricing until demand can match the supply that’s basic economy since I only have so many hours. If I hire staff I can keep prices low and now I can help millions instead of a couple hundred and now I can become filthy rich, but all I did is help a ton more people. This is why I admire rich people, they help people around the world move from poverty to the top 10% and most of them will do it for almost no money.”
I agree that the expressions of “exploitation”. or “slavery” are too harsh and not the right words, especially as people do not do them consciously.
Still, in essence, this is what is happening.
In order to fuel the ever-increasing profit, growth our society is built on and we are all measured by, those who are in control introduce a very sophisticated “brainwashing” (again not the best word), through media, marketing, and the entertainment industry they call “ increasing aggregate demand”, which basically means misleading, tricking people to keep producing and consuming things they actually do not need and cannot afford, driving everybody to accumulate, hoarding stuff we throw away a bit later, as we “have to” replace our phones, TV’s, cars, refurbish our houses, all eat Michelin star food and of course wear and spray on ourselves what celebrities do. And at the same time, everybody sinks into unserviceable debt.
And many call the stock exchange and investment banking the largest casino in the world, except that those who play, many times they play with the money of other people. It is a completely virtual concept that drives the economy closer to the edge, many times in history causing its collapse, like at the time of the Great Depression, and what we are heading towards right now.
This whole system is a bubble that is driven by instinctive greed (again it is not our fault as our inherent nature drives us this way), excessive, unsustainable overconsumption.
But again, I am not against people getting rich!
Let us say, that now the evolving crisis forces us to scale down to the level of natural, healthy necessities as otherwise, we can’t survive in Nature’s balanced system governed by strict natural laws. Let us say Amazon continues with its services, making sure that people can have their necessities all over the world. Let us say Bill Gates and Microsoft (I know he is out of it more or less, but let’s use him as an example) is providing essential software for the Internet.
So nobody cares if they earn millions or even billions from providing honest, essential services to others. BUT… beyond their own necessities (which can be a huge house, expensive cars, all the comfort they need for providing the essential services they provide) which is neither praised nor is condemned, they will channel the rest of their income towards the benefit of the public for respect, recognition in return.
Why?!
Because this will be the most respected in the new society that lives on necessities and available resources, this is why they will be praised, not in relation to where they are on the Forbes list, how much money they have on their bank account, how many mansions, luxury cars they can buy, what parties they organize, which celebrities they hang out with…
After all Bill Gates is already donating a huge part of his wealth to “positive causes” as do many other top billionaires. Except it won’t be them deciding where they donate, but it will be decided according to the real, most urgent need in the global society. And that will be decided by an objective, mutually complementing, mutually contributing panel, team that will have the task to oversee such global processes and distribution in an honest, transparent, independent manner.
This is, of course, a gradual, step by step process, moreover it will have to unfold without dogma, oppression, violence, misleading propaganda. It will unfold through a unique educational process which can, first of all, explain to all of us, that the changes are necessary not because someone decided so, because some political ideology, “ism”, religion or philosophy dictates, but because we have to adapt ourselves to Nature’s laws of balance and integration, otherwise we will not survive.
I think today, as we observe what is unfolding in the world, this is not so difficult to see, accept anymore, even 6 months ago we would not have been able to discuss this, but now everything has changed.
