Being Human
An opinion from the Internet about the differences between humans and apes:
“I do not believe in this theory you described: we are more than just instinctive apes: we have been tweaked by extraterrestrials although I am not sure by which ones. Also, I do not believe that we are one species despite the fact that from a reproductive standpoint, we are! The mind of a Terran Human as yet cannot be properly defined and by extension neither can the term humanity!
I know it is not pleasant to accept, that we are basically still apes with a Human potential.
But we know that biologically and how instinctively we live our lives, blindly following our randomly appearing desires for survival, and selfish fulfillment we are identical to apes and other animals.
The only difference is the fine, inner software that drives this blind, instinctive, ape-like existence.
And as mentioned before, this is due to the exploitative, “unnatural” human ego that drives us in comparison to other animals.
Who “tweaked this” in us is an interesting debate. I choose to follow the explanation of unique, empirical, natural scientists that describe how Natural evolution itself gave us this “unnatural” human driving force, alongside also giving us a special human intellect that can recognize and overrule and purposefully use this destructive ego when we reach that point in our evolution.
And that point is reached in our generation when we either let our ego completely destroy us, or we start using our other “gift” from Nature, our intellect capable of critical self-assessment, initiating self-change in order to adapt us to Nature and to fulfill our unique evolutionary role in the system.
Then we do not need to feel unpleasant about the ego, but we will understand that without it we could never be able to separate from other animals and become “truly Human”.
Also, only when we completed our development by our own conscious participation can we fully understand who we are, why we are called Human — similar to Nature by our own conscious efforts.
