Becoming successful

Question from the Internet:

“Why do humans seek success?”

“Success” is a general notion. One can consider “success” just simply to survive, to make ends meet. For others, success might mean climbing a high mountain, buying a new house or car, successfully making a connection with another person, or passing an exam.

But in general, we all thrive to prove ourselves.

Our inherent nature is 100% self-conscious, self-serving, and self-justifying, we try to compare and prove ourselves against others. Without comparing ourselves to others, without sensing and achieving success over the success of others, we would not even know where we stand or what we are worth.

This is why society is built in a way, that we measure everything quantitatively. We can watch it best in sports, where every minute, every goal, every pass, rebound, or even the minutes of “trash talking” is recorded, repeated, and quoted. But we this in business or politics as well, famous people are measured and judged by their quantitative measurements as if by that we could tell how “good or bad” a person is.

But without aiming for and achieving success, without having certain goals and fulfilling them we simply cannot exist. Without aiming for success and working towards it we would not have any direction in life.

So setting goals, and working towards a certain purpose is very important to know where we are and what else we should be doing in order to reach success.

The only thing we need to change — in order to create and sustain a better world and build a better environment for all of us — is to redefine and refine the goals and aspirations and the overall purpose we are thriving for, the most important success we are all aiming at to achieve.

And we have such overall success that fits all of us and we can all achieve — without ruthlessly and exclusively competing against one another. If we aim at this overall and truly Human success to achieve, this could unite us and develop us positively — above and despite all of our diversity, and differences of opinions, without suppressing or erasing anything.

This overall and all-encompassing purpose in which we all need to be successful is learning about, practicing, and reaching our predetermined, evolutionary Human role and purpose in existence.

And frankly, without aiming for and achieving this success, we can’t even consider ourselves Human beings, since our goals, activities, and our “successes” we constantly aim for and celebrate ourselves for are keeping us on the “animate” — blind and instinctive — level of existence.
