Are we emotional or intellectual beings?
Question from the Internet:
“Why are emotions so important to humanity?”
Because we are emotional creatures. Our actual “matter”, driving force is desire, it is an insatiable, ever-growing desire for selfish fulfillment, constantly chasing greater, stronger pleasures while distancing ourselves from any actual or expected pain, suffering.
We see the whole reality through emotional, sensory impressions, influences.
This is the basic program of life in Natural reality, but only human beings are conscious about it and can fine-tune themselves to sort out, harness, prepare their desires and prioritize which desires deserve fulfillment and which can be restricted. And most importantly only human beings can recognize the intentions behind, above the desires and then consciously choose, direct what intentions to use and for what purpose.
This constant work with our desires and their fulfillment is the role of our mind, intellect and only, for this reason, do we need to develop, upgrade our intellect more and more, in order to find the best possible prioritization of our desires and assign the most optimal intentions to them.
