Are we controlled by the media and entertainment industry?
Question from the Internet:
“What is the impact of media and entertainment on values, ethics, and principles?”
Basically, we all exist in a real-life Matrix. The all-encompassing, global propaganda machinery has reached such sophistication that we are controlled and manipulated 24/7.
All our values, ethics and principles, all the goals and aspirations we follow come from this Matrix that is implanting in us our thoughts and desires and all our behavioural patterns.
And even when we “choose” to go against the mainstream, we are basically just as manipulated and simply go in a different direction where we will find “different” values and ethics and principles which the same Matrix provides from another angle, leading us to the same goal: to become the mindless servants of the system.
And when we search for and find who controls this Matrix, it is not the so-called “elite”, it is not the “1%”, but it is our own inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric and exploitative nature that locks us into this Matrix and does not let us escape.
After all, we could all disconnect and build a different society based on different values, ethics, and principles.
Those values, ethics and principles are altruism and become selfless and unconditional servants of each other and the whole system in a mutually responsible and mutually complementing manner. And it is even “natural” since the whole Natural system we are born from, we still exist in and evolve with works on those values, ethics and principles. Without them, there would be no life and optimal development in the Natural system.
But our inherent human ego cannot accept such an arrangement. So we rather stay in the manipulative and exploitative Matrix where we are at the bottom of the pyramid because at least we understand this system and hope we also get some remnants of the spoils. In contrast, we can’t comprehend or stomach the thought of becoming selfless and altruistic where we would need to care for and think about others as we care for and think about ourselves.
Only when we will reach an “earth-shattering” realization that if we want to survive and develop positively, then we will need to break out of this egocentric and exploitative Matrix and rebuild humanity on the blueprint of Nature’s finely balanced and mutually integrated system will anything change.
And we can reach this “earth-shattering” recognition and turning point in two ways. One is the painful option, when wars, socio-economic collapse, natural disasters, plagues, and similar will create such intolerable suffering that we have no other option but to change.
The other option is more pleasant and proactive, and faster. We can recognize and actually feel that our present lifestyle, attitude, and interaction with each other are unsustainable and self-destructive.
We can reach such recognition with the help of a unique, purposeful and practical educational method. And then, after this sharp and “shocking” recognition, we can proactively, purposefully and willingly start adjusting and further developing ourselves until human society becomes similar to and compatible with Nature.
