Are there any rights in a lawful, Natural system?
Question from the Internet:
“Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. — Evo Morales. What are your thoughts on this statement?”
Earth does not have rights, nor do we.
This whole “justice, rights” business is a human invention, an illusion, as we are lacking knowledge about the reality we live in and we assume some freedom of action, freedom of choice.
But in truth, we exist in a lawful, deterministic Natural system where everything is created, operated, governed by absolute laws. We are not facing some human justice system with human judges, or a jury, we have no case to present, we can’t appeal and we definitely cannot bribe. (And we do not need expensive defense lawyers either of course.)
Everything is defined and governed by “black and white” laws, and how we fare, what we feel, what we achieve, whether we can solve our problems and survive depend solely on knowing and keeping these laws. An individual person is not even taken into consideration from Nature’s point of view, where only how we interconnect, how we co-exist, cooperate, how we contribute to the wellbeing of the system is taken into calculations.
At the moment — driven by our inherently self-serving, self-justifying, egocentric, and exploitative human nature — we are going against Nature’s laws. As a result, we are sinking into an ever-deepening crisis and we are sleepwalking towards seemingly inevitable self-destruction on a global scale.
The sooner we abandon our harmful illusions about individual/collective rights and free choice, the sooner we humbly learn how to adapt ourselves to Nature’s strict, unforgiving and unchanging laws that sustain the general balance and homeostasis life depends on, the sooner we will find solutions to our problems and can safeguard our continuing, collective human survival as Nature’s integral, cooperating, partnering elements.
Our human uniqueness and advantage is that we need to and we will achieve this seamless integration into Nature consciously, proactively, above and against our inherent Nature, making us the system’s only integrated but independent observers.
