An ongoing discussion about Human nature

An opinion from the Internet about Human beings’ egotistic nature:

“You keep writing: “We have become such narcissistic, self-serving individuals (especially in Western societies), that we can’t cooperate, work together even when our life literally depends on it.” Can you please provide some practical examples of this?

I brought six billion dollars of new high-tech product to market and no one reported to me I was simply a staffy making sure that everybody could cooperate and get their needs met at the same time supporting the entire project. I don’t get your idea of this egoism getting in the way of everything It just doesn’t happen that way.

A real life example please not arm-waving, thanks.

You know we agree on the outcome of Humanity helplessly progressing towards inevitable self-destruction. It’s just that you’re starting from a place that isn’t real.

We are social primates. We can’t live without each other We aren’t individuals first so we can’t be egoists first…”

Do you ask for examples of egoism, narcissism, egoism getting in the way when you see how individuals, nations respond to the pandemic?! When we see how everything beautiful, useful we invent ends up being exploited for individual profit, or as a weapon against others?! When many people do not want the potentially life-saving vaccines for example as they came to a point where we simply cannot trust anybody anymore?

You are asking for examples when countries, continents are paralyzed as individuals, parties refuse to cooperate but hijack everything for their personal reward, legacy, benefit, when organizations, the media (paid propaganda serving vested interest) sabotage leaders for years, plunging their own countries into deep crisis?!

Do you see how people use social media, how children bully each other in schools to the point of causing others to commit suicide, do you see how people run to addictive substances as they can’t fulfill their selfish desires anymore and have no purpose in life as a result of the society we created?!

Do you see the elderly left alone in Western societies as their families do not want to look after them, do you see how young people do not want to establish families as they do not want the commitment that comes with it?!

What other examples do you need and I only scratched the surface so far!

And we cannot say that it affects only certain people, only those who are on the peak of the human pyramid, who elects them, who follows them, who follows, absorbs the “circus and bread”, who stays willingly in this “Matrix” instead of building societies on truly collective, altruistic foundations?

I would like to see examples from you, please show me where is that famous “collective spirit”, a program for the mutual connection you keep mentioning?! Why can’t we solve global problems which require a connection between people. Maybe I am blind but I simply cannot see it anywhere on a mass scale.

Unfortunately, we will see the opposite, if things do not change quickly we will see how easy it is to incite, “unite” people through hate towards others as leaders will have no other choice but to create a “Cold War” or actual war situations to “solve” the increasing problems, inequality, uncontrollable hate in domestic societies.

You say that we agree on the outcome. So I gave you the cause and effect leading to that outcome Humanity self-destructing.

What is your cause and effect leading to that outcome if it is not our inherently egotistic, selfish nature?

This is what I have been asking from you for so long, how do we end up exterminating ourselves — which you are certain about — if deep down we are good that want to connect to each other?! I keep telling you, something is missing in the middle, as the only thing we need is the right connection between people, by that we could solve all our problems.

According to you, such a connection is programmed in us, we already have it, so then what is missing, why are we self-destructing?!

I told you before, I fully understand people who fight against this “theory” of the Human ego being our problem with everything they have. If we accept that it is the ego in all of us that distorts, corrupts everything, suddenly everything becomes sharp and real! Then it is not a philosophical discussion any longer, as suddenly “I” have become responsible, “I” have to change myself instead of changing the world and others.

And at this point, it is still unacceptable for many…
